TWIN HOUSE

TWIN HOUSE

Floating roof

The design of two rooftop extensions for two bungalows under one roof is situated in the ’60 suburb Buitenveldert near the south-axe of Amsterdam. The ground floor is covered with a roof that seems floating. The roof is the main structural and architectonic element of the houses.

Folded roof

By folding the roof at both ends up as a wall and folding it a second time becoming the new roof of first floor on both sides, the main element of the house is becoming more powerful. The chimneys are extended and still feel like keeping everything in place.

Wood

The house is based on a traditional construction with walls and floors. The new top is constructed in cross layer wood. Light in weight, long spans, elements combined in a monolithic construction and placed in three days are the advantages of the system.
