In 2009 it is decided to give the corporate restaurant on the campus of the RIVM, the governmental Institute for public health and environment, in Bilthoven the Netherlands an upgrading. The main function of the restaurant is lunch. Presentations or lectures are incidental. A full day usage of the space would be an opportunity.
A deck is introduced. Covering the roof and the front wall of the existing kitchen block, creating a natural stage, a divided part for seats at lectures, and rising creating a stair as a tribune and an entresol.
In front of the main entrance, underneath the entresol a lobby with coffee bar is created, a facility which is open from early morning till late afternoon.
Six types of furniture making 6 ways of lunch are introduced. Different types of furniture for airport, country-lodge, brasserie, restaurant, club and lobby are fit in. The key words are respectively fast, extrovert, tête à tête, group, introvert and slow.
Presentations and lectures can be held. Beamer wall, stage, deck, tribune and entresol make a natural arena for the audience, ending in the journalist zone at the end of the entresol.
Beamer wall, stage, dance floor, tribune, entresol and club seats make a professional environment as a party hall. The main entrance is extended through a short cut in the tribune.
