In 2007 we were asked to make a design for the interior of a new to build old style farmhouse (stolpboerderij) on the boundary of a little Dutch village called Grootschermer. The existing farmhouse is in a bad condition and will be demolished. A new one will be built with the same dimensions. Being on a one road village, the back side of the lot gives an amazing Dutch polder view.
The ground floor is the central space, with an open feeling. Through several holes one can get down to the different basement caves. There is one stair up to the connected spaces in the roof. This roof feels floating above ground floor.
The central void from ground floor towards third floor is differently shaped on every floor, making a smooth connection between all floors.
