The design of a house at the Rondehoep Oost in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel is situated on a rural area in the village, next to a small river connecting the river the Amstel. A big house with an extensive program is wishful.
The house is build like an ekranoplan. A main element with two short wings on the side. They mark the entrances.
The interior is a helix from basement to attic. The total floor height of 3 meters, sixteen stairs, is divided in four platforms to create the helix. The platforms have a difference in height of 0.75 meters, the equivalent of four stairs.
A cabinet wall is the spindle of the helix. The cabinet wall contains an elevator, a wardrobe, a fireplace, the fridges, the air-conditioned wine cabin, the laundry chute, two secret staircases and a slide from the top of the house to the basement.
In an unfolded situation the program has a length of 93 meters. It starts with service functions in the basement to living functions on ground floor to bedroom functions on the upper floor and the attic.
One route of 136 meters length makes the connection from the lowest level, the kids playroom, to the highest level, the storage and the entresol in the master bedroom.
Chimneys, ramps, stairs, loading docks, hanging platforms, side decks and quarterdecks are integrated to create an artisanal and industrial atmosphere.
