Here’s some fresh information on our tree last build projects: Jamie Oliver enters European continent: restaurant Fifteen Amsterdam, in between Anne Frank-house and Westerchurch: restaurant Werck Amsterdam, and re-development in south-east of Amsterdam (68 housing project): Koningshof Amsterdam.

Coming soon: super ‘strak’ interior rebuilding of Almere patio-house (construction nearly finished), design for a half hidden house in the clay area of south-west Holland (final designing now), not build design for restaurant-club near Kings Cross in London (2003), urban design proposal for area near Zürich lake, apartment-building in downtown Alkmaar (kick-off) and a sparkling cool penthouse design for Dutch leading DJ (concept design finished).

FIFTEEN AMSTERDAM

Introduction

Very much from the beginning we as architects were involved in the project-team of Fifteen Amsterdam. Starting with the location Lloyd-pavilion after an intensive period we finished an integral vision and a final design for Fifteen Amsterdam. After changing the location to a much bigger Pakhuis Amsterdam we presented a huge range of new concepts for the final Fifteen restaurant. From here on we worked as advisors on the architectonic part for the project-team.

We appreciated it to be part of the project of Fifteen Amsterdam and we appreciate it to be 'friends of fifteen Amsterdam'. Here’s some older design pictures. Project photos will come up pretty soon.

WERCK AMSTERDAM

Introduction

On 1 January 2003 the well-known restaurant RumRunners, situated on the Prinsengracht in the so called Amsterdam quarter Jordaan, between the Westerchurch and the Anne-Frankhouse, closed it’s doors after 18 years of business.

March 2003 we started with new plans. The main building is a 200 years old monumental hall, a glass house at the Westermarket, and a closed building with terrace in between the hall and the Westerchurch. After eight months of construction in june 2004 café-restaurant WERCK opened.

Identity / Urban conditioning
In the canal area of Amsterdam with it’s dense block structure, the existing hall is one of the rare buildings, which can be converted into a freestanding building, creating a sense of inviting public space around the restaurant and respecting the Westerchurch at the same time.

Event space / City culture
At the same time being a practical restaurant, design creates conditions for cultural events (hotspot) in the middle of the historic city of Amsterdam.

KONINGSHOF AMSTERDAM

Introduction
In 1992 the Bijlmermeer neighbourhood in Amsterdam was renewed in three ways: spatially, social economically and by intensifying the management.

Koningshoef was the first flat to be torn down in the so called K-area. In its place the low rise neighbourhood of Laag Koningshoef is being built, a total of 275 houses. The whole neighbourhood consists of closed building blocks with houses surrounded by land and some areas to fill up the site on the edges. Two towers with appartments serve as a kind of crowning of the project.

We accepted in 1999 the task to give shape to three building blocks with a total of 68 houses and commercial spaces. In spring 2004 the project was delivered to the occupants.
